Miya gets interviewed by Gayle King
On Friday (January 8th), Miya was interviewed by CBS ‘This Morning’ host Gayle King about the incident. Wearing a baseball cap with the word ‘daddy’ sewn into it, Miya made a public apology but also tried to defend herself for her actions.
As NBC News reports, Miya said: “I do, sincerely from the bottom of my heart, apologize that if I had made this son feel as I assaulted him or hurt his feelings.”
She then continued to explain how she could have done things a little differently, saying she should have: “Maybe not yelled at him like that, and made him feel you know, some sort of, uh, inferior way, making him feel as if I was like, hurting his feelings — that’s not my intention. I consider myself to be super sweet.”
Gayle then described her reaction as “extreme, to which Miya tried to defend herself by saying: “How would you feel, if you were alone in New York and, you know, you’re going to spend time with your family during the holidays, and you lose the one thing that gets stolen from you that has all of the access to the only way that you’re able to get back home.”
She also claimed that “racism” doesn’t come into the situation before pleading: “How is one girl accusing a guy about a phone a crime?”
Miya was arrested on Thursday (January 7th) and jailed in Ventura County, California, CBS News reports.
