Fans are convinced that Taylor Swift’s new song is about her rumoured fallout with model Karlie Kloss, but has anything actually happened between them?
Taylor Swift had an incredible 2020. First, she released her album Folklore in July, then she surprised her fans with a surprise album Evermore in December. But that still wasn’t enough new music for Taylor, and she’s slowly been adding bonus songs to Evermore since it was released.
The latest bonus track is called It’s Time To Go, and as usual, fans are trying to guess exactly who it’s about. People are convinced it’s about a fallout with her former bestie Karlie Kloss, but have they really had a feud? Let’s explore the rumours.

Fans think ‘It’s Time To Go’ is about a fallout with Karlie Kloss
Rumours of a fallout between Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss have been circling the internet for a really long time, but fans think Taylor’s new song could have just confirmed that the pair aren’t friends anymore. So where’s the evidence?
Well, one of the lines in the song says:
“When the words of a sister, come back in whispers, that prove she was not, in fact, what she seemed. Not a twin from your dreams, she’s a crook who was caught.”
People are linking this lyric to a quote that Taylor said back in 2015. As Us Magazine reports, referring to Karlie, she said:
“People had been telling us for years we needed to meet. I remember makeup artists and hair people going, ‘Doesn’t she remind you of Karlie? God, she and Karlie would be best friends. They’re the same.”
So, perhaps the lyric “twin from your dreams” refers to Karlie, as they have always been told that they have the same character.
The other bonus track, Right Where You Left Me also has some intriguing lyrics, one of them being: “Friends break up, friends get married.”
If you’re a big Taylor fan, you’ll know that Taylor didn’t attend Karlie’s wedding to Joshua Kushner in 2018, or their second ceremony in 2019, so the lyrics do kind of make sense.
What happened between Taylor and Karlie?
Fans are convinced that the track is about a fallout between Taylor and Karlie, but what actually happened between them?
The pair’s friendship first began back in 2012 when Taylor said in a Vogue interview that she loved Karlie and just wanted to “bake cookies with her”. Karlie then saw the interview and tweeted: “Your kitchen or mine?”
After that, the pair became firm besties and were pretty much inseparable. They went on road trips together, attended parties together and even posed for a joint Vogue cover shoot because their friendship had become so famous.
So where did it all go wrong? Well, they continued hanging out until 2016, and then the friendship seemed to disappear.

Taylor took a year-long break from the limelight around the time of her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, and then Karlie said in an interview that she thought Kim was a “lovely person” when she was supposed to have Taylor’s back. Karlie even later attended Kanye’s Yeezy fashion show!
Karlie is also good friends with Scooter Braun, Taylor Swift’s former manager who she has had many public feuds with.
Then, Taylor didn’t attend Karlie’s wedding, and Karlie also posted an Instagram captioned “Swish Swish”, a reference to Katy Perry’s diss track about Taylor.
Taylor and Karlie have never revealed the true reason for their fallout, but it’s clear that they’re definitely not friends like they used to be. We’ll never know if there’s truly any bad blood between the pair, but fans are still convinced that It’s Time To Go is confirmation of their fallout.
