Wendy Williams opened up about getting date raped in her latest movie ‘Wendy Williams: The Movie.” But who was Sherrick, the rapper who allegedly raped Wendy?
The movie gave the audience to have an inside look into how Wendy rose to fame. At the same time, it shows the dark side of trying to make a name for oneself. Amid this, one segment that shocked fans was finding out that Wendy was raped by the first celebrity she ever interviewed. The movie gave a look inside the date rape.

WHO WAS SHERRICK?
Sherrick was a soul singer and musician. He made it big in the 80s but his career did not last for a long time. His cocaine addiction led to his downfall. His songs, ‘Just Call’ and ‘Let’s Be Lovers Tonight’ were among the ones that made it to the chart.
When Sherrick was working on ‘Just Call,’ he was also attending rehab sessions. Even though the singer tried to change the path that he followed, he ultimately was unable to. His reputation seemed to be affected by headlines that spoke about his addiction and his affairs with several women.
Due to his addiction, Sherrick failed to prioritize his career. There were times when he would miss his business meetings. Ultimately, the addiction seemed to take a large portion of his career. Sherrick disappeared from the industry for a while and returned in 1999 to work on new music. This time, he got rid of his addiction. Unfortunately, his album was never completed as he passed away on January 22, 1999, due to unknown causes.

WENDY WILLIAMS RAPE ALLEGATIONS
The television personality opened up about the incident in an interview as she said, “He mesmerized me with his twinkling eyes. He flipped the interview around to where he was interviewing me – I was just gaga over this man and he asked me to go to an opening party, an album release party, with him that night.”
She continued, “And before the party, I was date-raped by him.” Wendy further confessed she was date-raped when she was in college. The movie offered a glimpse into how this incident changed her life forever.
Sherrick’s widow, Lynne Conner Smith, had repsonded to these claims stating Wendy should have let him “rest in peace” as he “is not here to defend himself.”
“Sherrick was a beautiful man, a genius with a voice like an angel,” she said. “We have three amazing children. This is quite painful to not only us but his nieces and siblings.”
